LODGE Soy Candles: Upholding The Native Heritage

Small Business Canada

Angela DeMontigny is an internationally renowned Indigenous Canadian artist and designer. Since 1995, she has been creating custom-made and ready-to-wear, all-leather clothing collections, bold accessories, and statement jewelry collections. Her clothing line is available in specialty boutiques and galleries throughout Turtle Island (North America) and Europe.

After success in the fashion industry, Angela set out to create a unique collection of natural soy candles that utilize ancient plant knowledge and cultural wisdom to promote self-care.

LODGE Soy Candles provides Indigenous wellness for the spirit, body, and home.

Spreading Positivity

Angela DeMontigny is a Cree/Métis designer and artist who was inspired by ceremony and the ancestral knowledge of the leaders and chiefs to found LODGE soy candles to gift ceremony and light into people’s lives. LODGE Soy Candles provide a positive and relaxing environment for the senses.

Angela designs her gorgeous and sustainable soy candles by upholding her native heritage. They are made all-natural and infused with essential oils from some of the most important Indigenous plant medicines at the core of Indigenous wellness, becoming a necessary part of homes, offices, and cottages.

LODGE Soy Candles consist of six scents comprising the Ceremony collection and the special editions Angela has created that embrace the spirit and intention of Indigenous wellness and bring the natural world into your home.

They make use of oils derived from the plants, trees and spices that have been used since time immemorial to bring peace, calm, clarity, cleansing, positive energy and healing. They are also ethically made, vegan, eco-friendly, and poured into reusable or recyclable containers. The candles are poured into beautiful, contemporary glass containers with wood wicks and two sizes of convenient travel tins.

DeMontigny decided to call the collection ‘LODGE’ as Lodge is not only a word for ‘home’ but also a word that describes a place in the woods or near a lake for ‘relaxation’ and ‘recreation’ as well as a place for ‘ceremony.’

Authentic Indigenous Designers

DeMontigny is one of North America’s leading authentic Indigenous designers, attracting the interest of accomplished singers, performers, and other high-profile personalities across Canada and the U.S.

Her original collections showcase the most elegant examples of her Indigenous heritage. Her leather and shearling coats, skirts, evening dresses and casual pieces, unique jewelry and all leather IT bags are not only luxurious but functional and timeless.

She also custom designs bridal and engagement/wedding dresses, diamond engagement rings, fine jewelry, and edgy leathers for men.

DeMontigny has established Young Native Fashion Inc., the parent company behind the DeMontigny brand, opening her flagship boutique and gallery and launching her ‘RESPECT’ capsule collection during South Africa Fashion Week in October 2017.

Angela DeMontigny is well known for her luxurious leather fashion and accessory designs and has gained popularity for her extraordinary soy candle collection.

Angela DeMontigny set out to recreate the smell and feeling of being in a ceremony at her traditional lodge, sitting in prayer beside a sacred fire. Her natural soy candle embodies this unique feel, the experience of utter peace and calm that transports you to a sacred place while practicing your daily rituals or meditations.
