For many young entrepreneurs, the path to launching a business is more than just the bottom line; it’s about community, legacy, and self-determination. While funding can often be a major hurdle for startups, the strength of a business’s foundation often determines its long-term success. Since its inception in 1996, Futurpreneur has supported 20,000 diverse individuals, including Indigenous entrepreneurs between the ages of 18 and 36, fuelling the launch of over 15,600 businesses.
Moving beyond traditional lending, Futurpreneur’s Indigenous Entrepreneur Startup Program (IESP) offers a comprehensive ecosystem for growth. While they provide critical startup loans, their true value lies in their “wrap-around” support that combines two years of dedicated mentorship with the practical resources and networking opportunities needed to turn a vision into a sustainable business.
These resources include an interactive tool that helps turn a dream idea into a structured business document ready for the eyes of investors, and a cash flow template that is critical for SMEs to manage fluctuations in the early stages of their business. Furthermore, the IESP team is composed of experienced Indigenous professionals who understand the unique cultural and systemic contexts of Indigenous business, including operating on-reserve.
If you or someone you know is in the “idea” or “early growth” stage, Futurpreneur is hosting a series of free virtual workshops this April and June. These workshops, known as the Indigenous Founders Circle, are designed to build resilience and confidence through an Indigenous worldview.
